Tweet Last week, Radian6 announced a whole raft of improvements to their platform and to their engagement console. Our team uses Radian6 for many clients, and I’ve used the tool for several years now, so I thought I’d take some time to dig into the updates and distill the key improvements for you. Tweet Earlier this week I posted a review of some new features Radian6 has incorporated into its online dashboard. Super users have an additional screen in Radian6′s online dashboard where they can see users and profiles, and edit each. The Radian6 team will undoubtedly keep rolling-out adjustments over time.

They offer sentiment analysis, trend comparisons, geographic analysis, theme detection, authority measurement, demographic and, a classification engine similar to Radian6 or Sysomos and the same basic price point of about $500 a month. Online Reputation Monitoring can be as simple as creating alerts on Google or as comprehensive as subscribing to a syndicated monitoring service like Radian6 that gives you a complete platform to listen, measure and engage with your customers across the entire social web.

Every few seconds this morning, TweetDeck brings another comment on today's announcement that Salesforce.com is buying Radian6. The announcement's not exactly a surprise—Radian6 was the obvious acquisition target in social media analysis (SMA), and their platform had supported Salesforce integration since mid-2009.

Vocus built its own tool, which is fully integrated into its PR monitoring system; Cision white-labels the Radian6 social media monitoring tool. Also, the freshness and elegance of the Radian6 UI makes the clunkiness of the Cision interface even more obvious. The disadvantages are in pricing and the need to learn two separate systems.
When I think of examples of companies known for successful adoption of social media tools, a few names always come to mind – Dell, Radian6, Freshbooks… and Zappos. In this post I’m purposely leaving out comprehensive suites like Radian6 or Lithium and focusing on solutions that are specifically (or at least mostly) geared towards Facebook analytics. But many still find it lacking so a number of companies have stepped in to try to fulfill this need.
Well yesterdays news of the Salesforce aquisition of Radian6 is a game changer. With this Salesforce/Radian6 deal, and Lithium grabbing ScoutLabs and MarketWire folding Sysomos into the mix, you are now seeing an alignment of B2B with social beyond just the conversation. Yea social media is cool but what’s it all mean?

Social listening technologies like Radian6, Hootsuite (or whatever your favorite is) will allow you to chime in at most relevant times with potential buyers, middle of funnel prospects or even existing customers – keeping you top of mind at all times!

The product is still in closed beta testing for now and Sysomos hasn’t announced pricing but, like Radian6’s engagement console , this looks to be a differentiating addition to Sysomos’ portfolio of services. I do think they need to answer the privacy questions, though.

In fact, Radian6 , who I respect very much, is working with Klout as well as some other tools like OpenAmplify and OpenCalias to get a better rounded picture of what the relationships are and the value of those relationships. The Radian6 dashboard is going to knock the socks off the competition with this.
